Ongoing Activities

From its unfurling this centre is continuously buzzing with various activities and training sessions.
Some of the activities taken up here are given below:

Dairy Training for Farmers

A training programme for the basics of Dairy. development was organized wherein around 100 farmers and Dairy Entrepreneurs participated in this training session. The latest knowhow about the techniques of selecting Milch Cattle, Nutrition management, disease management, processing of milk and preparation and marketing of various milk products were elaborated to the participants.Successful case studies of Dairy Entrepreneurs were also narrated for boosting their enthusiasm.

Swachata Abhiyan

To inculcate the ethics of Clean Village, Healthy village, a joint Swachata Abhiyan with peoples participation is being consistently organized wherein villagers from Thadipawni together with volunteers clean the streets of the village along with Gram Panchayat premises and temple premises. The cleanliness drive always receives an overwhelming response from the villagers.

Self Help Group Meeting

A meeting of Women folk from Thadipawni and nearing villages who have associated together to form Self Help Groups is convened regularly to discuss the activities taken up through their SHG’s and to discuss the various problems faced by them from Banks or other connected Government agencies while day to day functioning. The Government Officials at the village level and Taluka level are also invited for the meeting and they take active participation in guiding the participants and for solving the problems faced by them.

FISHERIES TRAINING

A Three Days Fisheries Workshop for Fishermen community from Nagpur District was arranged on 23 June 2017 by Divisional Commissioner Office, Nagpur as per the directives from Shri. Anup Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur in co-ordination with Department of Fisheries Development, Government of Maharashtra. 230 Fishermen (including 150 Men and 80 Women fisherman) from six districts of East Vidarbha participated in this Training. Subject matter specialist from Fisheries Research Centre, Bhubaneswar gave the training about various aspects of commercial fish rearing. Also a Fishing conglomerate from Chhattisgarh shared their experience with the participants and showed them the way to success.

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE

Tree Plantation drives are a regular activity being taken up by Krushi Vikas Pratisthan in and around the vicinity of the Training center in the Forest spaces and also at various places in Nagpur District as required. This has helped a lot in conservation of the forests, maintaining the green cover and preventing soil erosion on the hillocks.

BAMBOO WORKSHOP

Bamboo cultivation and processing is a subject of global importance. A group of 70 farmers from Nashik
District, Maharashtra visited our Training center for getting a detailed knowledge about Bamboo Cultivation and processing. One day workshop on Bamboo, its cultivation, National Bamboo Mission its objectives and benefits to farmers was successfully organised. All the farmers were highly influenced and planned to constitute a farmers company to take care of Bamboo cultivation and processing.

KRUSHI KATTA AND FIELD VISIT

Farmers from Thadipawni village and the villages from the vicinity meet regularly at a fixed interval at the center to discuss the pertaining Agricultural situation, Crops situation and necessary practices to be taken up. The First Krushi Katta was initiated on 17 June 2017. Various issues pertaining to the Agrarian situation, Weather, Crops in our area etc, have been discussed during these meetings. Various discussions taken up at Krushi Katta’s include Zero Budget farming, Dairy Development, Cotton Cultivation, Soyabean Cultivation, Orange plantation, its maintenance, Fertigation, Sweet Orange, its cultivation, and maintenance etc. To bring a variation in this trend the members of this group regularly conduct joint field visit to places of Agricultural importance in Nagpur district viz, Central Citrus Research Institute, Indo Israel Agriculture Farm, and Dates plantation etc. The farmers got the detailed knowhow about the technical aspects of Orange Cultivation, Budding in Orange, Indo-Israel method of dense cultivation, Fertigation, drip Irrigation and also toFields ofsuccessful farmers etc.

NETAFIM WORKSHOP

Three consecutive sessions of workshops for training of farmers and giving them the know-how of irrigation systems, latest technology in irrigation and government subsidies and the process of availing the subsidy were taken up wherein technical experts from renowned Irrigation Company NETAFIM trained the farmers and the sessions were very enthusiastically attended by Orange growers from the area. Training sessions on various subjects as per the need of farmers and villagers are being regularly organized at the center.

PAANI Foundation Workshop

Taking note of the multifaceted arrangement at our training centre, PAANI Foundation a recognized NGO in the field of water conservation organized 2 months workshop in the year 2018, 2019 and 2023 for their selected volunteers empowering them with the easy techniques of water conservation in villages and fields. These volunteers after training in turn made the villagers in villages that had participated in the Water Cup Competition all over the Nagpur district aware of water conservation techniques and actually implemented them at the grass root level through people’s participation.

AGROVISION FOUNDATION- Expectations Workshop

Agrovision is a highly popular Agro-Expo organized in Nagpur. Dr.C.D.Mayee the Member of organizing committee held a workshop for farmers of the area to get a know how about the expo and to ponder over the expectations farmers have from this expo. Around 150 farmers from the nearing areas participated in the workshop and shared their valuable inputs for improving the usefulness of this event which will be organized in November 2024.

FOREST DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PEOPLES PARTICIPATION UNDER JFM SCHEME

The Birth place of Dr. Girish Gandhi, Village Thadipawni,situated in Nagpur District of Maharashtra is surrounded by Forest Hillocks which were barren and treeless till his initiativetaken up in the year 1990 under the Joint Forest Management Scheme of the Forest Department wherein more than 1 Lakh plants of Timber and Bamboo species have been planted and nurtured with peoples participation under the Joint Forest Management Committee constituted by the villagers. These plants have grown into a rich green canopy which covers the hillock with a green blanket during these past 17 years.

All the activities taken up at Thadipawni Center and at various places in Nagpur and Vidarha Region of Maharastra prove Krushi Vikas Pratisthan’s inclination to its noble cause of Integrated Rural Development and the motto of “Reverse Migration” which is the need for boosting the rural economy.

Around 25000 farmers/ trainees have attended various sessions and around 17000 trainees have actually resided here and had a feel of the local and hygienic food provided and the rural ambience,this popularity between the rural masses has helped us make ourselves known to renowned Business Houses and Multinational Companies, Who are always eager to support us through Financial Aid in form of Donations which are eligible for Tax Benefits under 80 G Section of IT. Along with the ongoing activities we need to expand our horizon and inculcate more new activities which attract more Financial Liabilities. Hence we hereby request one and all to support this Green Movement we are pursuing.

WATER ATM

Due to the unsafe and polluted drinking water available in the village, residents were consistently suffering from outbreaks of water borne diseases. In a pursuit to provide safe and hygienic drinking water to the residents of Baradpaoni, Krishi Vikas Pratisthan has assembled a WATER ATM at the training centre
premises.

The villagers have been provided with rechargeable swipe cards and 20 Litre water cans for fetching water.
Clean and potable water is being provided at a negligible rate of 5 Rs per 20 Litre (0.25Rs/Litre). All the
villagers are taking advantage of this facility.

Swargiya Manohar Gandhi Vachnalaya

In the area surrounding Baradpawni and Thadipawni, spanning approximately 50 kilometers, there is a noticeable lack of libraries available for students.

Recognizing this need, Krishi Vikas Pratisthan has established a modern library at Baradpawni. This facility houses around 5,000 books covering a wide range of subjects, catering to students preparing for various careers and competitive exams. Additionally, the library offers free access to daily newspapers
in English and local languages, as well as a variety of monthly magazines. Students from a 50 km radius regularly visit the library, taking full advantage of the facility.
